Entry Requirement

Admission to Level 3 The students who wish to register for courses at Level 3 of the BEd Hons (Primary Education) Degree programme should fulfill the following qualification No. 01 and any one of other qualifications. 01 Applicant should be 18 years or over on the closing date of applications. and, 02. Successfully completed the Advanced Certificate in Pre-School Education Programme conducted by the Open University of Sri Lanka or 03 At least three passes at the GCE (A/L) examination and 6 passes in G.C.E (O/L) examination with Language and Mathematics or 04 Obtain a minimum of 3 passes in 3 courses from among the Foundation Courses at Foundation Levels 1 and 2 (offered by Faculty of Natural sciences and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, OUSL) and 6 passes in G.C.E (O/L) examination with Language and Mathematics or 05 Diploma in Teaching offered by the National Colleges of Education or 06 Teacher Training Certificate Awarded by the Teacher Training Colleges.

  • The assessment of a student in any course shall consist of two components, namely, Continuous Assessment and Final Examination. The overall mark is computed as follows: (a) Continuous Assessment components - 40%, and (b) Final Examination - 60% The content, nature and weightage of each of these components shall be in accordance with the rules relating to the scheme and method of assessment as determined by the Faculty.
